SPAM Filtering

Spam emails can be a problem for any business. Anti-Virus Filter:

When a virus is sent within email it contains a virus signature e.g.' X5O!P%@AP...'. Anti-virus Signature Database (AVSD) 1 will then attempt to match the virus signature to its database. If it is successful, it will delete the virus. If not, the virus will move onto AVSD2 and so on. The reason that one vendor may miss a virus is because the update mechanisms of each vendor work at different speeds - so the most out of date vendors will miss the most up to date virus.

Anti-Spam Filter:

After the mail has passed through the AV management system, it then passes through the multi-layered anti-spam analysis in order for any spam emails to be removed. The legitimate emails are then passed onto the customer server. However, we do suggest that an extra AV vendor is added to the customer server to dispose of any viruses that may have been missed.

After emails have passed through the Anti-spam system, an email will be sent once every work day informing anyone who have emails caught in quarantine. The users will then be given the option to either:

  1. Delete the quarantined email(s) if they are certain it is spam
  2. Deliver the email(s) if they are unsure
  3. Whitelist the email(s) if they are certain it is legitimate
