Internet traffic across the world dropped by 40% yesterday after an international Gmail outage.
Google Mail users suffered delayed sending and receiving of emails to and from their Gmail accounts from 3pm yesterday afternoon until 3am early this morning. Some users reported just a few second delays and others experiencing much more disruptive delays.
The outage is predicted to have affected half of all Gmail users in all four corners of the world.
Google made a statement to apologise to that read “We’re aware that prompt delivery is an important part of the Gmail experience and today’s experience fell far short of our standards.”
