Apple Surrenders to Oracle with Java Update

The latest upgrade from Apple sees their very own JavaScript being replaced by Oracles version of the software. Apple is directing Mac users to download the software directly from Oracle and not via them. The latest update removes Java from Apple OS and prompts them to download directly.

In the recent ‘upgrade’ Apple states,

“Java for OS X 2012-006 delivers improved security, reliability, and compatibility by updating Java SE 6 to 1.6.0_37′
‘This update uninstalls the Apple-provided Java applet plug-in from all web browsers. To use applets on a web page, click on the region labelled “Missing plug-in” to go download the latest version of the Java applet plug-in from Oracle.”

There has been no official statement as to why Apple have made this move, however it’s suggested that it could be due to security issues with Java and also the recent release of Oracles Java Security update. Either way Mac users have been left a little confused.
