Following the announcement last week where Cisco revealed it had acquired data centre management firm Cloupia for $125million. Cisco has revealed another big purchase in a move by the company to expand their networking hardware business.
As a bid to boost its status in the sector of Cloud Computing, networking giant Cisco have bought cloud computing company Meraki for a grand total of £750million.
Meraki services more than 10,000 businesses worldwide, and is targeted at small to medium sized enterprises. It allows for simple, secure, management of cloud networks across the globe.
Cisco, the world leader in networking solutions has so far not made much ground in the cloud world. The latest move will allow Cisco to expand into the cloud computing market, allowing users to move away from storing and managing data on traditional hardware and move towards online solutions.
