2013 has seen DDoS (Distributed Denial of Service) attacks treble throughout its 12 months.
Not only have the number of attacks grown three fold, but the size of the individual attacks are also being recording at record high sizes and speeds.
During 2013, 54% of DDoS attacks were recorded at over 2Gbps and 37% of these were between 2Gbps and 10Gbps, an increase of 15% compared to 2012. The biggest growth in DDoS attacks however can be seen in the largest of occurrences. Speeds of over 20Gbps are up 350% on 2012’s figures. The largest DDoS attack was recorded in August at a massive 191Gbps.
