Samsung has revealed the latest chip technology it is to implement in its smartphones and tablets.
The Exynos 5 Octa chip will be the weapon of choice for Samsung devices running Android OS after it goes into mass production next month.
The chip will offer twice the power of its predecessor, a chip produced by British firm Imagination. The Exynos 5 Octa will feature six ARM Mali T628 GPU cores that can activate individual cores dependent on how many it requires for the task it’s performing. This will optimise battery life, improving efficiency by 20%.
Battery life still remains an issue within most portable technologies, with computing developing at a much faster rate than battery technology it’s important that devices are developing systems to compliment this as much as possible.
Exynos 5 Octa will also offer desktop quality video editing and HD playback.
