A Chinese company has developed the latest wearable tech accessory, a ring that can transfer data and unlock devices.
Shanda, the Chinese company behind ‘Geak Ring’ have used near field communication chips to develop a small wearable device that allows Android devices to be unlocked. The ring can also be used to transfer data between devices.
Experts have predicted that the wearable technology industry has potential to grow to 10 times its current value. The imminent arrival of the iWatch and other manufacturer’s alternatives will have a huge impact on the interaction between man and technology.
The ring has been designed as an alternative to password key rings, and other objects that can be easily lost or forgotten.
Shanda are planning to extend the Geak Rings compatibility to other platforms following its release which is rumoured to be in August.
