The latest Java update released yesterday has addressed 40 vulnerabilities in the platform, 37 of which were labelled as high risk.
The 37 high risk flaws were rated so highly due to the risk they posed of being remotely exploited without authentication. 11 of these bugs were ranked the highest level as a result of their significant threat to users using techniques including sandbox bypassing and heap based buffer overflows.
Java updates, currently distributed 3 times a year will become quarterly as of October this year.
