A new threat facing computers which is based on the cryptolocker ransomware virus has been discovered in computers in the UK, US and Russia.
The virus, aptly named Locker, encrypts files and demands a ransom of £92 to decrypt and return the files to the owner. The virus has many similarities to the recent bug Cryptolocker which spread to computers worldwide making demands of over £500 to restore the files.
Locker is being spread through malicious websites and disguised MP3 files. Defeat however may be easier than you think as a security firm based in the US has managed to penetrate the network of the virus’ creator and accessed universal decryption keys, they are currently in the process of working on antidote software.
