Yesterday Microsoft issued its monthly Patch Tuesday update that addressed a series of critical and important vulnerabilities within a variety of Microsoft programs.
The update consisted of 5 bulletins that addressed issues within Windows, Internet Explorer and Microsoft Office. The most severe patch, MS13-047, labelled ‘Critical’ fixed a total of 18 vulnerabilities in all versions Internet Explorer running on all versions of Windows. All vulnerabilities could have led to remote code execution, stemmed from the way in which IE handles objects in its memory.
The other patches were all labelled ‘Important’ and addressed vulnerabilities that could have resulted in information disclosure, Denial of Service, Remote Code Execution or Elevation of Privilege.
