PlayStation have unveiled a streaming game service to leverage cloud based technology to deliver many of its back catalogued games to the new PS4 console and many of the 2014 Sony Bravia TV’s. This allows users to subscribe to the service without the need to own a console by streaming titles direct from its own servers and means PS4 owners can play PS3 games.
“We are thrilled to deliver entertainment experiences only possible from PlayStation through our new streaming game service,” said Sony Computer Entertainment president Andrew House.
It has recently been revealed that PS4 sales have exceeded 4.2 million Worldwide and that PlayStation Plus has seen a 90% increase in subscribers. This new cloud based platform will aim to engage users in the World of PlayStation whether they’re existing fans or have never owned a PlayStation platform.
A trial version will debut in the US this month before a global rollout over summer 2014.
