After a long wait Samsung has finally begun to roll out the botched Android Jelly Bean 4.3 update to its S3 users.
The initial Android 4.3 update was hastily released at the end of October, in line with the release of the S4 compatible Galaxy Gear smart watch. Blogs and online forums suggest that the release was rushed in order to promote the sale of the Galaxy Gear, which would otherwise be incompatible. The 4.3 version of the Android operating system however caused some major disruption to users with the S3 model smartphone.
Shortly after its release users started to notice faults including accelerated battery drain, freezing, alarms failing to trigger and certain apps failing to work all together. As a result Samsung pulled the update and has left S3 users on hold awaiting a patched version of the OS for over a month.
Samsung made a statement when the issues were first identified that stated they ‘are committed to providing customers with the best possible mobile experience, and will ensure to resume the upgrading service at the earliest possibility’.
Over a month later and Samsung have now begun to roll out the Android 4.3 update across all networks in the UK.
