VMware has announced it is to offer Infrastructure as a Service in the not too distant future.
With the increase in the number of businesses adopting cloud environments VMware have developed a tool in which they will soon be able to offer IaaS (Infrastructure as a Service) alongside its virtualisation and cloud services. The new service will be called ‘vCloud Hybrid Service’ and uses existing virtualisation tools to enable VMware to migrate to the public cloud and expand security and networking across both on and off premises situations.
The service will allow users to embrace a public cloud platform whilst still enabling use of existing applications and programs. While seamlessly tying private and public cloud networks, vCloud Hybrid will only work alongside VMware and not other cloud services.
VMware has already made an established footprint in the virtualisation infrastructure field. The new service is expected to be launched in Europe in 2014 and pricing is still yet to be announced.
