Popular web publishing platform WordPress has announced the introduction of two factor authentication to its services.
The enhanced security protection will be an optional addition to the regular WordPress services and will be used to confirm the identity of the user on top of their standard login in password details. The one time passwords will be generated and distributed through text message or Google Authenticator.
The development will enhance WordPress’ security credentials and reputation, following a number of compromises on WordPress published sites which have previously been used as a vector for malware.
Apple announced plans not long ago to introduce a similar two factor authentication setup to its iCloud service.
